Why is the ZoltanCar experience unique?
The ZoltanCarBudapest tours are more than just sightseeing — these are personal, engaging and informative 3-8 hour experiences. During the tours guests receive a concise yet fascinating introduction to Budapest's and Hungary’s culture, history and economy explained through real stories, local insights and fun facts. Tours are ideal for first-time visitors to Budapest, couples, travellers with limited time, visitors who prefer a private experience, travellers who want to see many sights without joining a group, visitors looking for a comfortable alternative to walking tours.
Is this a private tour?
Yes, the car and the driver-guide are exclusively for you. No strangers.
What languages do you offer tours in?
We host tours fluently in English and German.
How is this different from a bus tour?
No crowds, no headphone scripts, and no rigid timetables. Our private electric car is booked exclusively for your group of 1–4, giving you direct access to historic alleys and viewpoints where big buses can't fit. You get unhurried photo stops, real conversations with a local host, and an experience tailored entirely to your pace and interests.
What is included/not included in the price?
Every tour includes:
- Your private local host: Guided tour with Zoltán in fluent English or German.
- 100% electric ride: Quiet, comfortable sightseeing exclusively for your group of 1–4.
- Pick-up & drop-off: Central designated meeting points, with flexible downtown drop-off.
- Photo stops: Thoughtfully timed pauses at the best scenic viewpoints.
- Onboard comfort: Bottled mineral water, light snacks, onboard Wi-Fi, phone charging, and cozy blankets for chilly and umbrellas for rainy days.
- Safety & peace of mind: Passenger insurance included; child safety seats available upon request.
- Local insider recommendations: Curated tips for the best restaurants, ruin bars, and hidden spots for the rest of your trip.
What’s not included:
- Entry tickets & admissions: Attraction fees vary depending on the specific tour route and are paid separately at the venue.
- Meals & personal purchases: Full sit-down meals or extra cafe stops along the way.
How do I choose the right tour for us?
It depends on how much time you have and the pace you prefer:
- If you only have a few hours or it’s your first visit: Our city highlight tours cover Budapest’s most iconic landmarks - from Buda Castle to Heroes’ Square and Parliament viewpoints - effortlessly in a single morning or afternoon ride, without tired feet.
- If you have a half or full day and want to get out of the city: Our Danube Bend day tours take you beyond Budapest into scenic riverside country, medieval fortress heights at Visegrád, the artisan cobblestone streets of Szentendre, and the historic city of Esztergom.
- If you're looking for an underrated hidden gem: Choose our Baroque Danube Elegance tour to explore Vác - a charming, peaceful riverside town packed with vibrant architecture, rich history, famous mummies and zero tourist crowds.
- Have something specific in mind? We also create custom on-demand day trips to royal destinations like the Gödöllő Palace or the shores and vineyards of Lake Balaton.

Can I customize the route?
Yes, to a point! Our main route covers the essential landmarks so you get the most out of your time, but your ride is never rigid. Zoltán tailors the pacing, specific stories, and photo and coffee stops around what you love. Think of our itinerary as the proven highlights, shaped around your group’s curiosity. If you're looking for a completely custom route or private day itinerary, we can make that happen on request! Because availability depends on our existing booking schedule, and pricing varies depending on your chosen stops and hours, please drop us a message through our Contact form with your travel dates and wishlist so we can send you an exact quote.
Are your tours suitable for families with children?
Yes, guests aged 4 and older are very welcome onboard!
Keep in mind that our tours focus on sightseeing, architecture, and historic storytelling, so very young children might find it less engaging than an attraction built specifically for kids. However, because the car is reserved exclusively for your family, you can set the pace and take breaks whenever needed.
Child seat available: We provide an appropriate child safety seat upon request—just let us know in advance so we have it installed and ready!
Where do you pick us up?
There are two pick up points: Chain bridge parking lot on the Buda side at the EON e-car charging point, Parking lot at Western Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar). Based on your request in advance we can also pick you up anywhere in the downtown area.
Can I choose the drop-off location?
We typically drop you off at your original meeting point, but we’re flexible! If you’d prefer to finish near a specific downtown restaurant, café, attraction or you are staying in central Budapest, just let Zoltán know at the start of your tour and we’ll happily arrange a convenient central drop-off nearby.
Can I eat or drink in the car?
Complimentary bottled mineral water is provided for all tours! You are also welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages with a secure cap or lid. To keep the car pristine and comfortable for every guest, food and alcoholic drinks are not permitted onboard. If you'd like a quick snack or coffee break along the way, just let Zoltán know and we’ll happily pause at a local spot!
Can I charge my phone in the car?
Yes of course, the car is equipped with both Android and Iphone chargers. (USB-A and USB-C type)
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
Unlike walking tours or open-top buses, our electric car is fully enclosed and climate-controlled, keeping you warm and dry no matter the season. We also provide umbrellas for you, so a little rain never ruins your day!
Do you operate in winter?
Yes, the heated electric car makes it perfect for winter sightseeing. To make your jouney more pleasant we kindly offer you a blanket as well.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance. Since all tours are strictly private and vehicle availability is limited each day, popular time slots (like morning departures) fill up quickly. Last-minute bookings are welcome if our calendar shows an open slot!
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand plans change! You can cancel or reschedule for a full refund up to 24 hours before your tour departure. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour start time (or no-shows) are non-refundable, as that time slot has been reserved exclusively for your group.
Why do you ask for my billing address during booking?
Under Hungarian regulations, official invoices require the customer's full legal name and billing address. We use this strictly for tax and invoicing purposes - your information is completely secure and will never be shared or spammed.
Are there any additional services you offer?
Yes! We would be happy to drop you off at the airport at the end of your trip for a small fee.
Can we store luggage or foldable strollers in the car?
Yes! Our car’s trunk can comfortably accommodate either 2 large suitcases or 1 compact foldable stroller. If you are heading straight from the train station or have luggage with you, please let us know in advance so we can ensure everything fits smoothly alongside your group.
